Night of the Demons ’09 Coming to Blu-ray and DVD for Halloween

E1 Entertainment has announced that not only is Adam Gierasch’s remake of Kevin Tenney’s fun, mean-spirited Night of the Demons coming to DVD, but also Blu-ray on October 19th for $24.95 SRP. Extras on both editions consist of an audio commentary from director Gierasch and co-writer Jace Anderson, cast and crew interviews, and a behind the scenes featurette.

This anticipated film was being pushed for a wide theatrical debut but now is sadly is being regulated to home video. I’ve personally never held Tenney’s 1988 original as an untouchable sacred cow, so I’m welcoming of this re-imagining. Hell, the original’s two sequels don’t tread much new ground anyway, so one could (and perhaps should) view this one as the forth entry (or fifth if you count Mike Mendez’s underrated, obvious homage The Convent).

E1 doesn’t seem to have many DVD or Blu-ray releases, so I’m at a loss at what the studio’s Blu-ray spec norms are. I’d expect a 1920x1080p presentation with lossless audio, but you just can’t tell what new independents coming the format might do…
