This literally just in: All the Boys Love Mandy Lane, starring Amber Heard (Machete KillsThe Rum Diary, Johnny Depp’s girlfriend?) and Anson Mount (Safe, Crossroads with Britney Spears!) is coming to DVD and Blu-ray on December 3, 2013! The trailer is below:

Interestingly, the film actually came out in 2006 but was entangled in problems with its distributor, who went bankrupt not long after purchasing the film. These issues resulted in 7 years passing before the film could finally successfully be released for home viewing.

All the Boys Love Mandy Lane is your typical teen horror/slasher movie. Anchor Bay Entertainment and RADiUS-TWC summarize the plot as follows:

“Amber Heard (Machete Kills) stars as Mandy Lane, an untouchable Texas high-school beauty who is invited by her classmates to a weekend getaway at a secluded ranch. But, as the sun goes down and the party rages on, the festivities take a disturbing turn. And for lovely Mandy Lane, a night of endless horror has just begun. Anson Mount (Hell on Wheels), Whitney Able (Monsters), and Michael Welch (The Twilight Saga), co-star in this acclaimed and controversial shocker from director Jonathan Levine (Warm Bodies).”

All the Boys Love Mandy Lane will be released in DVD and Blu-ray. Run time for the film is 90 minutes. The DVD price is set at $24.98, while the Blu-ray will cost $29.99.

My take? Warm Bodies was a really cute movie (I’m a sucker for zombies, they’re my favorite), and I heard good things about 50/50 and The Wackness, two of Levine’s other films. He seems fairly new to the business, but thus far, he’s done decent work. I  like Amber Heard, having seen her in The Rum Diary, The Ward, and Zombieland, which was an awesome movie.  She’s got some nice experience as a horror actress, despite the fact that she seems to stick to horror films that are loaded with stereotypes and cliches (i.e. she doesn’t really pick much original stuff). Admittedly, All the Boys Love Mandy Lane got mixed reviews when it came out, and it currently has a 40% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, so it’s clearly not the Best Movie Ever, which isn’t a surprise at all. As far as I’m concerned, I’m just watching it to have fun-I do enjoy some good, old-fashioned “slash up the unwitting vacationing teenagers,” and that’s exactly what All the Boys Love Mandy Lane promises to provide. Great Sunday or late-night, don’t-know-what-to-watch-but-just-wanna-relax kind of movie. Looks like fun!
